Charlene Howard, a well-known local resident, died on Sunday, September 15, 2024, due to injuries sustained in a serious car accident just a day prior.

Charlene, a dedicated professional and active community member, succumbed to her injuries surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Charlene was involved in a severe car accident on September 14, which resulted in life-threatening injuries. Despite the medical efforts and the strength Charlene exhibited, she passed away peacefully on Sunday evening at 10:33 PM.

About Charlene Howard

Charlene was a bright light in the Tallahassee community, known for her dedication and passion for education and community service. She held several notable positions, including Program Manager at Florida State University and Internship Coordinator at Florida A&M University.

She was also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority and studied at several prestigious institutions, including Regent University, the Certified Life Coach Institute, Florida State University, and Florida A&M University. Charlene’s educational journey also included studies at the University of Metaphysics and Penn Foster. Originally from Miami, she attended Dr. Michael M. Krop High School before making Tallahassee her home.

Her impact was far-reaching, touching the lives of many students, colleagues, and community members through her work in education and mentorship. Charlene’s commitment to helping others and her unwavering dedication to personal growth earned her the admiration of all who knew her.

A GoFundMe campaign, started by family friend Adner Marcelin, has raised $14,767 of its $25,000 goal to support the Howard family in the wake of this tragedy. In a heartfelt message shared with the community, Marcelin wrote,

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charlene Howard… Surrounded by her family and close loved ones, Charlene transitioned with peace and love.” He added that the statement was shared with permission from Charlene’s mother, Hyacinth Archibold, as the family navigates this difficult time.

The family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community. “Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support as we honor Charlene’s life and memory,” Marcelin wrote on behalf of the family.
