West Palm Beach Shooting: Donald Trump safe, weapon recovered, “person of interest” arrested following shooting at Trump Golf Course

A shooting took place on the grounds of the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach on Sunday while former President Donald Trump was present.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Trump was unharmed during the incident, and the intent behind the shooting is still unknown.

Steven Cheung, the communications director for Trump’s campaign, confirmed that the former president was safe but provided no further details. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Teri Barbera, said that a “person of interest” had been detained, but the motive was not yet clear. A news conference was anticipated to provide more information.

The U.S. Secret Service also issued a statement, confirming that they were investigating the “protective incident” involving Mr. Trump, in collaboration with the local sheriff’s office.

In a related development, Sheriff William D. Snyder of Martin County reported that deputies had apprehended the driver of a vehicle wanted in connection with the shooting.

The person was detained on Interstate 95 as they crossed from Palm Beach County into Martin County. The highway was shut down as federal investigators arrived on the scene.

Vice President Kamala Harris and the White House expressed relief that Mr. Trump was safe, emphasizing that violence has no place in America. Further details about the incident are expected soon.
